Basics of robotics for manipulation

This course aims to give the basics necessary to understand robotics and to do creative work in this field. Emphasis will be on industrial robotics, high precision, and micro-robotics. Service and medical robotics are introduced as examples of promising new application fields. The course should enable students to identify situations where robots can bring in their full advantages, define specifications, and make creative proposals for robotized installations embedded in complex systems. They should learn basic notions of the design of industrial or manipulation robots. They should know how to establish mathematical models and how to design robot controllers.
