MICRO-503
D - Glucose Sensor Strip
Description
*** VERSION 2025 ***
24.02.2025: updated instructions --> Glucose_Sensor_Strip_V1_Spring2025_FOR_STUDENTS.pdf
Overview
The goal of this practical is the study of commercially available glucose sensing strips typically used to help the treatment of diabetes. You will unmount strips and investigate their features. You will also perform measurements with in-vitro prepared solutions of glucose and analyse the signal from the sensor. This will allow you to get familiar with a widely available microsystem for diabetes management, a disease affecting 422 million people worldwide in 2021, according to World Health Organisation.
Before the practical session
Read the practical document and answer the preparation questions. Submit them to the teaching assistant, Francesca Rodino (francesca.rodino@epfl.ch), at least the day before (6 pm) the day of the practical.
During the practical session
We will meet at Microsystems Laboratory - LMS1 in BM3212/13 on the practical day. We will first discuss your answers to the preparation questions before proceeding to the experiments.
Report
You will submit a report including the corrected answers to the preparation questions and the answers to the practical part within 10 days after the practical session (via email).
