Description

The purpose of this step is to explore how to support students in developing disciplinary-specific thinking skills, rather than focusing on conveying disciplinary knowledge.

  1. Read “Chapter 2: How students develop disciplinary expertise”, from "Facilitating Experiential Learning in Higher Education" (Tormey & Isaac, 2022). As you are reading it, think of what defines an expert in your field. https://doi.org/10.4324/9781003107606
  2. Read Using Visual and Mathematical Representations (L. Kober, Reaching Students, pp.77-88).
