Corrosion, Cracking and effects, Freeze-thaw, Alkali Aggregate Reaction (AAR), Swelling reactions with sulfates.



Thermo-hygro mechanical effects, restraint, delayed response, mitigation techniques, cooling of fresh concrete.



Examination: stepwise approach, condition survey, principles and approach, examination, updating, verification concepts.



20-24 October


In-depth examination: methodology, visual survey, characterization of cover concrete properties (permeability, depth, resistivity), location of rebar, electrochemical potential measurements, GPR (Radar).


Intervention: Realkalization, chloride extraction, cathodic protection, surface treatments, concrete restoration, applications of UHPFRC for protection.



Examination: Updating of actions (dead loads, traffic loads, climatic actions), structural analysis models, accidental actions.



Examination: Updating of resistances (material properties, resistance models), verification of structural safety and serviceability.



In-depth examination, updating by semi-probabilistic analysis, required safety level, condition assessment.



Overview of reinforcement methods (including additional external prestressing), structural members formed of R-UHPFRC and RC, bending and shear, local effects, joints, design criteria.


Reinforcement with glued CFRP lamellas.


Intervention recommendation: overview, proportionality, cost-benefit ratio, LCA, recapitulation of the course contents.
