General

Important:

The first week we will have a lecture on Monday, 09 September (at 14:15) in MA A1 10, and another lecture on Thursday (at 08:15, instead of the exercise session) in MA A1 12. Then, we continue with the schedule prescribed by SAC, so lectures are on Mondays, and exercise sessions on Thursdays.

Generalities:

Both the lectures and the exercise sessions will be on campus in presence.

There are LaTeX'd notes provided here on the  Moodle page of the course.

I will also upload weekly my personal notes on the material, you can find them at each week section.

Bonus exercises:

On some exercise sheet there will bonus exercise(s) that can be handed in as a  pdf, compiled from LaTeX. These exercises are carefully noted on the exercises sheets. The homeworks have to be submitted here on Moodle. The deadlines are taken very seriously. That is, the system does not accept the homework even a second later than the deadline. If the homework is not done in LaTeX, then it is worth 0 pts. During the exercise sessions, as many questions can be asked about the bonus exercises as you want. You can also talk with each other about the solutions of the exercises, including the bonus ones. However, you have to write out the bonus  exercises on your own. Copied homeworks are given 0 pts for both sides.

For each bonus exercise you will have a little bit less than 2 weeks to solve it and to write it out. That is, the deadline will be at 18:00 on the day which is 2 weeks minus 1 day from the exercise session of the given exercise sheet.

Final grade:

The grade will be given based on the exam. That is a you can get a 6 if you write a really good exam, without doing any bonus exercises, and getting 60% score on the exam guarantees you at least a 4 as a final grade.

On the other hand by solving bonus exercises, you can add at most 30% to your exam score.

Ed Discussion:

You can use it for questions and discussions about the material of any part of the course, including the lectures and the exercise sessions. Please do not use the Ed Discussion for other purposes.

Advice:

it is important that you follow the course and the exercise session constantly, that is, you re-read the material of the previous class between two classes, and you solve also those exercises that are not required to be handed in.

Last year's material:

The videos from '21-'22 can be watched here

The handwritten notes from '21-'22 can be found here.

Past Exams

Here are exams from the courses offered in previous years together with solutions. Many parts of Question B.1. and its solutions are WRONG in the 2019-2020 exam. Please avoid it.
