Here are the main recommended resources for VHDL:

• Chu, Pong P.: RTL Hardware design using VHDL. John Wiley & Sons Inc., 2006. If you are logged in at EPFL you should be able to download this book for free as a PDF on the ieeexplore website. You can use this book as a reference, but there is no need to read all of it

Unfortunately, for VHDL, there are many outdated resources out there or resources which give poor advice on design.
