Description
Computers
Practical works can be done from one of 2 options:
- On your own computer (using either a full local installation of Vivado or a combination of the Linux servers and Vivado Lab edition). This is the preferred option! Note that installing the full version of Vivado locally can take a lot of time if your internet connection is slow, so please attempt this where you have access to a fast internet connection.
- On the Linux server of the section, using VDI
Please note the following:
- To actually program the FPGA you need a local installation of Vivado, either Vivado or the Lab Edition of Vivado. See https://moodle.epfl.ch/mod/page/view.php?id=991199 for how to install either one. Note that Vivado can take around 40-60 GB of memory, whereas the Lab Edition is much smaller.
- MAC users will have to use a virtual machine on their computer in order to install either version of Vivado as Vivado is only supported on Windows and Linux.
