Introduction to chemical engineering
ChE-201
13 September - Week 1
20 September - Week 2
This week’s exercise is designed to help you build a solid foundation in the basics of mass balances. We will begin by solving problems involving systems with a single unit. Once you're comfortable, we will move on to more complex tasks involving multi-unit systems.
We have provided the answer to the exercises.
The detailed solution will be released after the class

Please be informed that the midterm exam is scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024, from 14:15 to 17:15.
The exam will take place in two rooms:
- BS160
- BS170
Both rooms are located at the entrance of the CE building, on the Batochime/UNIL side. You have been assigned specific rooms for the exam, so please check the document titled Midterm Exam Room Assignments below to find your assigned seating. This document provides detailed information on where you need to be.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure a smooth start. Remember to bring all necessary materials (⚠️ do not forget your physical properties tables ⚠️), including your student ID and any allowed supplies.
Exam Content: The exam will cover:
- Mass Balances: All types will be included, so please ensure you review each one.
- Energy Balance: This will focus exclusively on Non-Reactive Systems.
22 November - Week 10
Today’s session will be split into two parts:
1️⃣ We’ll start by reviewing the midterm problems together and going through the solutions step by step. This is a great opportunity to clarify any doubts and strengthen your understanding.
2️⃣ After that, we’ll proceed with our usual exercise session.
NOTE: Correction of Problem 1 from Midterm is incorrect and will be updated soon
