Welcome to the course BIO-322 "Introduction to Machine Learning"!

18 September - 24 September

25 September - 1 October

2 October - 8 October

28 October - 3 November

Dear BIO322 students

I got sick today, and I won't be able to give the lecture tomorrow morning, Wednesday 13 November, unfortunately.

Could you please watch the last 10 minutes of last year's lecture 8 and continue with last year's lecture 9 This is an important lecture, because we start discussing neural networks. I am very sorry that I can't make it...

Please ask questions in the exercise session on Friday (I plan to be there) or post them on Ed Discussion (I will try to answer them as soon as possible).

Regarding the miniproject:

  • The instructions and dataset will be released on moodle by this Friday, 15 November at 17h00.
  • Next week on Wednesday 20 November at 8h15 we will have Prof. Pierre Esseiva telling us something about the data. Please be there and show up on time. I think he will bring the device that was used to collect the data, and I cannot assure that you will see everything on the lecture recording.
  • Please form teams of two members and fill in the questionnaire on moodle by Friday 22 Nov at 18h00, once you have read the miniproject instructions.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Best wishes and see you soon, Johanni Brea

Miniproject

Here is an old exam. Questions 26, 27, 28 are on reinforcement learning in this old exam. We did not cover this topic this year; so you won't be tested on reinforcement learning. We also added 16 additional quiz questions for you to prepare for the exam (solutions on the last page). Good luck for the exam preparation!
