Description

Goal

Theory: Being able to formulate the linear statics problem in strong and weak form including boundary conditions. Formulation of the Galerkin approximation and understanding of the construction of the FE formulation.

Practice: Being able to carry out a simple FE analysis using Abaqus CAE and compare the results with an analytical solution.

Mini project: Identify subject and create groups

Theory

Continuation of the Linear Statics FEM theory.

Exercise 1

Perform a simple FE analysis on a cantilever beam using Abaqus and compare with beam theory. See "Ex1" folder for description.

Mini project

Create groups of 3 students, if not done yet.
Continue defining a subject and gathering the needed information.
