Numerical analysis

REMARK 05.07.2025: There are some typos in the notebook:

• In Exercise 1 question 8, β should be plotted from 1 to 10. The statement mentions 0.1 to 10, but that makes the plot harder to read. The provided template is correct.
• In Exercise 3 question 5, make sure to compute the derivative at t=0.6 rather than at t=0.5.

You have until Tuesday 13th May 23:59 to finish this sheet and submit it back on Moodle. As a reminder this sheet will count 20% of your final grade. Some remarks on this sheet:

• You can of course ask questions on the sheet in the exercise classes and you can work on the sheet in any way you like. For example we very much encourage you to discuss the problems amongst each other. However, note that everyone needs to submit its own individual copy on Moodle. In particular you are not permitted to just copy the solution of another student, but you need to write it up in your own words. You have to be able to explain to us what you wrote in your solution, see below.

• We will mark the sheet afterwards and in week 14, that is on 28th May during the exercise session, there will be a 5min spot-check interview with each of you on your submitted solution. The purpose of this interview is not to ask detailed questions about the lecture, but just to ensure that you are the person who wrote the answers in your submitted solution.
• You have to choose a timeslot for this interview, which you can do on Moodle.
