Description
The remaining completed slides from sections 2.3.4 Torque on a dipole to 2.6.3 Displacement vector. The problem #2 on Oct. 8 2025 can be solved without considering the displacement vector D just be using the electrical field E^(ext) induced by the (free) charges on the capacitor plus the formulas of sections 2.5.3 (dielectric constant) and 2.6.1 (boundary conditions) shown today. Sections 2.6.2 and 2.6.3 are added for those students who want to find also the displacement vector D at this point. D becomes (very) helpful for irregularly shaped materials arrangements. Vector D will be discussed next lecture.
