Resources for Exercise Sessions:


The majority of the exercises consist of programming tasks. Students are welcome to use their choice of programming language and IDE/editor to complete the programming tasks. However, the solutions to the exercises will be provided in Python. The room assigned for the exercise sessions, currently CE 1 105, is not equipped with computers. Bring your own laptop or other device to the exercise sessions.


As part of the course, we will provide you with virtual machines (VMs) that include Python installations for your use. We will be using the VM SB-WINDOWS. This VM will have the WinPython package preinstalled. One can access the list of virtual machines in one of two ways:

  1. Downloading on your computer and installing the VMWare Horizon client from vdi.epfl.ch
  2. Using an HTML browser on your computer, access the virtual machines from the same link
For both, you must log in with your GASPAR credentials and select the VM SB-WINDOWS. On the VM desktop, you will find a folder titled "WPy64-31050". Inside, you will find the extracted files of WinPython, which contain all the essential Python packages such as Scipy, Numpy, Matplotlib, etc., as well as the Spyder IDE.
In addition, the Windows virtual machines also have installations of MATLAB R2021a.
