Ed Forum's Usage Rules

This page is part of the content downloaded from Ed Forum's Usage Rules on Sunday, 25 January 2026, 01:40. Note that some content and any files larger than 50 MB are not downloaded.

Description

The forum is the central place to exchange information related to the class material, labs, exercise book, and exams. All students are expected to use it to search for answers and share knowledge throughout the semester.

Please take a moment to read the rules carefully—following them will help ensure that the forum remains a valuable resource for everyone.

Page content

1. Find out for yourself

Have a question? You’re probably not the only one:

  • The answer might already be on the forum.
  • Your classmates will likely find it useful too.

Assistants are few in number. Their role is not to give you ready-made answers but to help you learn how to find them yourself. That means they will first guide you toward using the available tools and resources (including this forum). Before asking an assistant, you should be able to show that you have already searched on your own—especially on the forum—and did not find a solution. So, whenever you face a question or problem, your first step should be to check whether it has already been answered. The forum’s front page lists all previously asked questions and, when available, their answers.

2. Write a precise title

On the forum’s front page, only question titles are visible. When asking a question, make sure to provide a short, clear, and meaningful title.

3. Answer if you know the solution

Anyone can answer questions on the forum—that’s one of the basic rules of netiquette (see below). A forum is an open discussion space. Except in special cases, do not send your answer privately by email; reply directly on the forum so everyone can benefit.

4. Do not ask for or give solutions to graded assignments

The forum exists to help you understand the course material, not to let you bypass the work by copying code. Questions and answers containing code that could be submitted for a lab are not allowed and will be deleted.

5. Respect netiquette

In particular:

  • When replying, quote only the relevant part of the message, not the entire text.
  • Do not attach large documents to your messages unless explicitly requested.
