RZIP vs Free-boundary simulation with controller
This example shows how to perform a closed-loop simulation for magnetic position and current (R,Z,Ip) control. As well as control of coil currents orthogonal to those used for R,Z,Ip control.
We perform the simulation both with rzp (rigid body model), with fge (free boundary model), and with fgel (linearized model of fge) and plot the differencess

Compute the time-varying Va and Iadot vector to sustain plasma current
Since we model the resistive plasma current decay, a loop voltage is needed to maintain the plasma current. This loop voltage is generated by varying the poloidal field currents in time along a particular vector. Also a time-varying Va (coil voltage) is needed to sustain these time-varying voltages.

Compute controller parameters
Use meqctrl function that implements a simple R,Z,Ip controller

Generic magnetic controller for meq - implements a simple R,Z,Ip
controller for anamak and provides extension options for other tokamaks.
See tutorials/anamak_rzp_control.m for example of its use for anamak.
Also serves as template for possible design of other controllers.
Inputs:
mode: 'setup','init','step' or 'reset' (see later)
cstate: vector with the controller state at the previous time step.
ctrlpar: controller parameter structure as input. For details, inspect this function
L,LY: MEQ L and LY (equilibrium) structures
varargin: optional parameter-value pairs to pass into ctrlpar
Outputs:
cstate: vector with the controller state at the next time step
Va is the controller output voltage (including feedforward part
ctrlpar are the controller parameters, returned in the 'setup' mode
ctdebug are optional debugging information.
MODES:
'setup' mode:
Performs controller design and returns ctrlpar. Calls a tokamak-specific function
meqctrlp<tok> to load the controller parameters.
* First, a mutual decoupling and resistive compensation term of the form
MR=Maa+Ra/s is placed in front of the open-loop plant.
* A vertical control loop (KzQ) is closed on the voltages directly. By default
the control direction is chosen to maximize the coupling to the
most unstable eigenmode, but custom directions can also be chosen.
* A coil current control loop (KIo) orthogonal to the vertical control loop
is closed as well. This gives a stable plant with inputs being the
ortogonal coil currents and the vertical position reference.
* A radial and current control direction is chosen using a pseudoinverse
of the plant gain at low frequencies, to control rIp,Ip while not
perturbing zIp
* The rIp, Ip loops are closed with their own controllers (KrQ, KIQ)
A note on nomenclature, the suffix 'Q' refers to [Piras, PhD thesis EPFL 2010]
and denotes the 'common' mode (mnemonic: 'Q'ommon), to distinguish if
from the symmetric mode 'S' for doublets.
'init' mode: Initializes the state-space matrices for the controller as
persistent variables and returns the initial state and initial command voltage
(called by fget in the initialization phase)
'step' mode: Executes controller step, receives previous state, parameters,
and LY from current time step and runs one step of the controller,
returning the control voltages and next controller state.
(Called by fget in the time step)
'reset' mode: Clears the persistent variables
Setting debug=true plots some transfer functions in the design process
