Description

  1. What are the time scale of different components, e.g. photon life time, atom life time, atom-photon interaction time?
  2. How many thermal photons are there in the cavity due to the finite temperature of the environment?
  3. What the initial state prepared in the cavity?
  4. What are the atoms and their states used in this experiment? How's the energy level separation compared to the cavity frequency?
  5. How is the atomic Ramsey interferometer used to obtain the cavity photon number?
  6. Is the photon measurement QND? Why is it important when using many atoms as the measurement tool?
  7. Why Winger function can not be directly reconstructed in this system? How is the density matrix reconstructed from the measurement result?
  8. How are the Fock states, S. cat states prepared?
  9. How is the state decoherence dynamics tracked using atoms? How is it manifested in Wigner functions and density matrices? Is the decoherence rate similar to the expected value?
