Description
Slides about the effect of a dielectric between capacitor plates (experiment) and energy stored in a capacitor followed by section 2.3 in which the polarization of insulators in an electric field via dipole moments is described. In an electric field, a torque acts on a permanent dipole, the dipole exhibits an orientation-dependent potential energy and a force acts in case of an inhomogeneous field which pulls the dipole into the direction of larger field line density.
