Describes how to set up the Software for the lab

To set up the Software (IDE) for the lab on your computer follow the steps below:
- Install the Silicon Labs IDE, Version 4 (Simplicity Studio 4) from
- Simplicity Studio Version 4 - Silicon Labs (silabs.com)
(NOTE: the latest version, V5 requires a significant amount of storage and we therefore recommend using V4)
You may need to create an account at Silicon Labs to do this installation
When prompted, you do not need to log in - Reboot your computer after the installation to get the drivers
- Connect the board
- Start Simplicity Studio
- When prompted by the installation manager choose "Install by Device" and choose under "Boards":
EFM32 Leopard Gecko Starter Kit board (BRD2201A Rev A03
(In principal, when connecting the board, the system should show the connected board type as connected, but
this does not always work and then you will need to find the board yourself in the list) - Install all recommended tools (requires 2.15 GB of disk space)
- You should not be able to follow the instructions in the lab document
