Description

Resources for Exercise Sessions:

The majority of the exercises consist of programming tasks. Students are welcome to use their choice of programming language and IDE/editor to complete the programming tasks. However, the solutions to the exercises will be provided in Python. The room assigned for the exercise sessions, currently CE 1 101, is not equipped with computers. Bring your own laptop or other device to the exercise sessions.

As a part of the course, we will provide you with virtual machines with Python installations that you can use. We will be using the virtual machine SB-MATH-WINDOWS. This virtual machine will have the WinPython package preinstalled. One can access the list of virtual machines in one of three ways -

  1. Downloading on your computer and installing the VMWare Horizon client from vdi.epfl.ch
  2. Using a HTML browser on your computer access the virtual machines from the same link
You must login with your GASPAR credentials and select the virtual machine SB-MATH-WINDOWS. On the desktop, you will find a folder titled "WPy64-31050". Inside, you will find the extracted files of WinPython, which contains all the essential Python packages such as Scipy, Numpy, Matplotlib, etc. as well as the Spyder IDE.

In addition, the Windows virtual machines also have installations of Matlab R2021a.
