TA. Wenhao Zhao, wenhao.zhao@epfl.ch.
Time. Mondays, 10:00 to 12:00, CM013.
Start. The tutorial classes start in the third week, i.e. on September 23, by discussing the second exercise sheet. The first exercise sheet, uploaded during the first week, is to be solved on a self-study basis and does not require more than knowledge of prior analysis and complex analysis courses. The second week is blocked by federal fast day.
Objective. The goal of the tutorial classes is to discuss the exercise sheets and their solutions. Discussions should primarily take place in groups among students, but (for selected exercises) there will be room for public debates in class. You may ask the TA to present your solution to a particular problem to get feedback on it or to improve your presentation skills.
Upload. Exercise sheets will be uploaded one week before their discussion. This gives you time for their thorough preparation. Please use this time to your advantage. It enables more elaborate in person discussions with your classmates. That way, you also have more time to discuss the technical fine-tuning and the structure of a proof, possible simplifications, etc.
Solutions. Solutions to a large portion of the respective exercise sheets will be uploaded on Moodle few days after their discussion in the tutorial class. Every exercise sheet (except the first recovery sheet) will contain one exercise tagged with a star. These exercises will not be addressed by the solutions uploaded online, hence it is wise to discuss them in the tutorial class. One of these exercises marked with a star will appear on the final exam.
