Description

The forum is a place to exchange information related to the class, lab sessions, exercise book, and exams.
Every student in the class can and must use it to find answers to any question that might arise during the semester.

Please read the rules carefully so that it can be a useful platform for everyone.

Page content

1. Find out for yourself
Do you have a question? You are probably not the only one:
- the answer might already be on the forum;
- the answer is probably interesting for your classmates too.

Assistants are in limited number. Their goal is to help you figure out the answer by yourself. As such they will prioritize helping you use the tools and resources at your disposal (including this forum). For an assistant to help you, you must first show that you have looked by yourself, including in this forum, and that you didn't find a solution.

When you have a question or are facing a problem, your first reflex should be to verify that your question has not already been answered on the forum. On the forum's front page you can see the list of all questions that were ever asked, eventually accompanied by their respective answers.

2. Give a precise title

Only the question's title is visible on the forum's front page.
When you ask a question, think about giving it a short and meaningful title.

3. Answer if you know the solution

Everyone can answer a question asked on the forum, it's one of Netiquette's basic rule (see below): a forum is an open discussion platform. Except in special cases, do not send your answer to the author by e-mail, but reply directly on the forum so that everyone can benefit from it.

4. Do not ask for or give solutions to graded assignments

The forum's purpose is to help you learn the course material, not to let you dodge difficulties by copying your classmates' code.
Questions and answers containing code snippets that could be submitted for a lab are forbidden and will be deleted.

5. Respect the Netiquette
In particular:
- when replying to someone, do not include the entirety of the message you are answering, instead quote its relevant parts;
- don't join large documents to your messages, unless explicitly asked to do so.
