Description
The thermodynamics of the grand-canonical ensemble is discussed in this video. The grand-canonical ensemble is important for adsorption studies as this is an open ensemble, i.e., the number of particles in the system is not constant. Hence, by computing the average number of particles as a function of the chemical potential at constant temperature gives us the isotherm.
